this week we salute Buffalo style as inspired by pioneering stylist Ray Petri and made famous by Neneh Cherry on the 1988 album 'Buffalo Stance'. New mods, rude boys and Native American influences, Petri defined an aesthetic still relevant today.
On Petri & the song itself, Neneh Cherry said -
“The song is about our gang, our time and our mentor, Ray, who is still behind every word and every melody,” ... "Buffalo meant classic. None of us were into here-today-gone-tomorrow fashion, which is why we gravitated toward each other. Ray was always consistent, and he taught us that we shouldn’t be afraid to be honest.”
